With the development of CNC machine tool industry, the use of advanced CNC bending machine tools, equipped with reliable and accurate bending machine die to achieve the bending process can greatly improve the production efficiency and ensure the quality of products. Because the process parameters can be easily adjusted, the CNC pipe bender can accurately and stably complete straightening, round alignment, feeding, bending and other actions to ensure the bending accuracy of the control parts. However, the quality of the bent copper pipe is more sensitive to the process parameters, so there are sufficient preliminary preparation and trial production for the requirements, especially for the bending of thin-wall copper pipe. If the process parameters of the bending machine are not properly selected, it is easy to wrinkle, resulting in scrap of parts. How to obtain these process parameters efficiently and accurately and fully guarantee the quality of bending products is the research focus of CNC bending process. In the winding and bending process, the position of the mandrel relative to the bending point is very important. A certain position of the mandrel relative to the bending point (the working end of the mandrel enters the bending section of the pipe) can reduce the ellipticity, but when the mandrel is too much ahead, the thinning of the pipe wall will be increased, so the position of the mandrel should be determined after 3 ~ 4 bending samples. In addition, the characteristics that the mandrel must move back when bending the thick-walled pipe and forward when bending the thin-walled pipe should be considered.
In practice, there are many different pipe bending processes, and there can be a variety of different die categories of automatic pipe bending machines from different angles. In engineering, it is usually divided into cold bending and hot bending according to whether the pipe is heated or not. According to the bending, it is divided into core bending and coreless bending. Copper pipe, especially thin-walled copper pipe, is bent by cold bending method.
